| Re: Bahamas?? I had heard about the LBR, researched the internet a bit and then I called and spoke to a customs agent on the 800 # before I posted last night.
Everyone with or without an LBR must report on the 800 # upon reentry. The LBR number does not guarantee that you will not have to report... if they tell you to appear in the office on your call then you must....that's the law. The LBR is just a L ocal B oaters R egistration done one time in advance to a trip abroad to ease the operation or reentry.
So, for your scenario, If 2 crew have LBR's and 2 do not... the call to the 800# is made upon reentry...the 2 who have LBR should not (but may if requested) have to appear in office and the 2 who donot have LBR's will have 24 hours to appear as required by law.
Best advice is to have your crew make an appointment by calling the 954 #, make an appointment, bring their passport and driver's license and whatever else prior to embarking and just get it over with one time... then if those crew members go abroad on a vessel again, they'll have the LBR and should not have to appear again...
It's a good option to local boaters.
