I need to vent!

Something happened on the water today which pissed me off, and it's not the first time this has happened at Jazz Brunch.

I was headed for Jazz Brunch at The Riverhouse, and looking for a place to tie up at around 11:30am. I noticed a 37' Sea Ray called "Odessey II" from Coral Springs was docked, and had no one alongside him. I asked if it would be alright for me to raft-up tp him, and let him know I had sufficient fenders. He told me that he was "Holding the spot for a friend". I've heard that stupid line before, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I ended up docking at Riverfront instead. I left at 2:30pm and noticed that "The Friend" never showed up- what a surprise! It was obvious that this was just another snooty boater afraid of a few footprints on his platform. I pulled up alongside of him as I left and told him what I thought of him. I wish stuck-up boaters like this would just stay at the local Yacht Club as that's where they belong.

So why am I posting this? I'm hoping he caught the name of my boat, and that he'll register and read this.

Re: I need to vent!

This is the way it is, especially in Ft Lauderdale. This has happened to me a few times. Any time you want to raft your junker (anything less than a new 40'+ yacht) to a yacht they look at you as trash.

This happened to me not to long ago at Riverfront, the guy used the excuse that my fenders were to small. His fibergalss was chalky and faded, you know how mine looks, shiny as galss, I was more worried that his boat would scratch mine. Anyway I got his message and I told him right to his face to go phuk himslef.

Don't let it get you down, there will always be snobby scumbags out there, but they wish they could party like we did at Lake Boca yesterday.

People like this are the same people that will go out of their way to not let you merge when driving in traffic. I think I'll organize a dockside raft-up at the next jazz brunch, and have 6 of us show up REAL early and reserve the whole dock. We'll only allow fun, party type people to raft-up with us there and give them a taste of their own medicine.

Wow, you guys are loyal- Haha. I already spoke my mind to him out there, and just want to make these people aware that there is no reason to be like that. If they enjoy that kind of boating, perhaps they should head North for The Hamptons.

Re: I need to vent!

I have also found this type of boater here in the south actually most all boater here are snobby like that unless:

1) you offer them free drinks
2) you have available ladies on board

.... just yesterday i was at the sand bar Stilstville (I will post some pics tomorrow bikini section ) and see there are like 9 boats when i arrive, being that i had the smalles boat (20') i rode right up in the middle of the sand bar while the tide was going down i had no worries i felt like kind of the bar..... later had some other boats pull up and the wind was preventing them from anchoring a good grip so i offered a few (3) total while i was there to first off assit them in digging their anchor and was turned away as if i had some other intentions ( this was weird ) later offered to tie a smaller craft that was having the same anchoring problem they said no, almost like leave me alone.....

Yesterday was truly weired and i had a flying RAFT-UP flag......... I had three ladies (nice) my music was low and conservative as to not break the peace......

Just one of those days I guess.

I have yet to run into any other boater with a RAFT-UP flag down here, except my buddy SEAFOX1 he was up from naples and we ran into eachother for a short beer right on the intercoastal....

WOOOOO HOOOOO - just broke in the Garmin498 yesterday.... NICE... but i will post in the electronic section.

Had to vent also...

Re: I need to vent!

OK, I guess it's time to get a raft-up flag so you guys will know I'm not a snob. Actually, I've found that in general (but not always) the bigger the boat, the bigger the snob. I think it has something to do with money, or perceived money.

So how do I get one of those raft-up thingies again?
