US Customs Miami Area

Does anyone know the procedures for exiting the US by boat from the Dania Beach area?

Better yet, is anyone planning to go to Bimini around the 19th of June? We're coming down from Pa. and staying in Pompano 6/14 through 6/18 then crossing on the 19th through the 22nd or 23rd from Dania Beach. The dates are somewhat flexible if anyone is interested.

Re: US Customs Miami Area

If you are a US citizen you just leave US waters.

When you get to Bimini you will have to pay $150 in CASH for a cruising permit good for 90 days for a boat your size, fill out 5 pages of paperwork and an immigration card they will give you there, and have a valid US passport for each person on board and your boat registration.

When you get back to the US you phone call the 1-800 # on the US customs website and check back in.

OK, Thanks for the info. I've read blogs on the crossing where people have mentioned checking in with customs, but nothing mentioned about checking out. We just got in to Pompano after spending a couple of days out in Key West. Hopefully the weather and marine forecasts will cooperate for us to make it over to the Bahamas on the 18th or 19th.
