Bimini 7/30/08 thru 8/4/08

Going to be making another run to Bimini on the above dates. If anyone is going to be over there I will be on Channel 72 most of the time. Have plans to be at an organized raft -up on Friday afternoon around 2pm at Honeymoon. Have 37 boats curently signed up but all you need to do is show up. Will be at Big John's after 10 pm most nights.

Sounds great! If it weren't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. I had to pick between a raft-up party in the Keys and mini-season in Key West, so I opt for Key West....then plans fall through. But I have reservations at Bimini Bay for this Friday until Sunday....so question: where is Honeymoon, and is it kid friendly raft-up?

Honeymoon is on the north edge of Gun Cay. If you idle south from Bimini Bay and exit the Bimini harbor entrance, just continue south and stay west of the coral heads that are permanently out of the water. You should be running in about 50 feet of water. Go about 5 miles and you will see many boats along a white sandy beach. Approach the beach closer to the north coral head as it tends to get shallow by the south.

As of now there are 42 boats and about 175 people. Only about 10 kids but I would say the beach is plenty kid friendly. We will be on channel 69 not 72. The unofficial start time is 1 pm.

Safe crossings mon.

I made it over, but by the time I made it into town to clear Customs (the people on the other boat that I went with got held up a little due to paperwork) it was too late....but cocktails by the beautiful pool at Bimini Bay made up for it....

Glad you made it and enjoyed the trip. Weather and seas were great. The people who don't make the short crossing just don't understand what they are missing.

YES... it was a glorious trip... water was so smooth on the way over, you could see the sky and clouds reflected in the water even while running at 40 knots. Glorious!

Then it's off to catch some lobster for the party tonight...

At the party, the girls serve up round after round of shots... in paper cups... I lost count at 6

It was a wonderful time for all ... everything was perfect...

and I'm already looking forward to next year!
