Oooooops! Sorry I posted to the wrong forum.

It's just that I never roam out into the other areas. This has always been my "home" forum. I'll look and see if there are "gas" discussions out there.

Sorry for posting "off topic"

I'm not saying its posted in the wrong forum. Hell, I don't even get a vote on the matter. I was really commenting that this could be valuable to others out there that may not venture into forums that do not belong to to their home areas.

I just happen to try to roam around and came across it.

Re: Gas / Fuel Issues ?

Hey, I'm from Pa. and I found it! But, you're right. I'm sure plenty of people don't duck into forums outside of their home region. The only reason I come here is to live in a nicer climate vicariously through you guys. A balmy 52F and raining today. Yeah, that's right. 5/20 and it's 52 and raining. Two more years and Pa. can bite it.

Anyway, here's a link to an interesting forum for you guys down there that run outboards.

InterMedia Outdoors Forums: Bombardier Johnson Evenrude owners - You have NO warranty in s/w FL !!

It may have some truth to it, but I would take it all with a grain of salt.

Re: Gas / Fuel Issues ?

I know this thought/idea isn't following the rest of the thread, but after seeing fuel prices spike this morning, I was wondering if the diesel chugging raft-up people want to starting getting together. Given a little notice, we could order up a combined order for dockside fuel, bringing down the price. Just a thought, since my Memorial Day boating is now confined to local areas due to cost of fuel....not sure if the raft-up gas guzzlers have the same option....

Now that's a novel idea, brilliant! If you think about it, if marina fuel gets much higher it will be more economical for guys that don't have trailers to buy one just to pull their boats and fuel up on the street. Maybe you all could chip in and buy one just for refuel runs. Unless of course your rig's too big. In that event God bless ya.

Re: Gas / Fuel Issues ?

Interesting idea .. sharing a trailer to buy land fuel .. but here's my math:

Approximately 35 gallons purchased per month x $1.00 savings (on land vs marina) = $35 savings per month, or $420 per year. Still not worth the cost of trailering (including the extra time).

Fueling dockside, however, from my own fuel cans = priceless!

Now I just have to figure out how to get those fuel cans past the dockboys (as self-fueling is not allowed at my marina). Maybe I can use empty kegs instead of fuel cans .. and fuel during raftups! I can just see the looks I'd get as I pour "beer" into my gas tank!! LOL

Re: Gas / Fuel Issues ?

As bad as it is, it's still not really Baaaaaad.

We paid $5.10 in Bimini last August.

We paid $4.75 per LITER ($15.67) on Lake Victoria in January (Kampala, Uganda)

So you really don't have it bad until you're paying $15 per gallon.

If you love making plane as much as I love making plane, the price of gas just seems to fade away. Passing Largo on glass-smooth water at 50 knots and gas prices don't even enter your mind!

My only worry is damaging those Evenrudes with BAD gas!

Re: Gas / Fuel Issues ?

Both Diesel and gas are now $5 gallon at Hollywood Marina, and that was before the last hike in oil prices. I paid $3 gallon at Riverfront Marina in December; I just called yesterday, and its up to $4.35 (almost a 50% increase in 5 months!) If we can find a place for a diesel truck to pull up, we can pay just over $4 gallon, or thereabouts, if we combine orders. The more fuel ordered, the cheaper it is.....Something to think about!

P.S. someone check my math....it was never my strong suit
