I'm in! House is reserved and the dock spot is saved. See you there!

Re: "You Gotta Regatta in Islamorada 2008"

Hey everyone,

New guy here from Clearwater, FL but loves to hang in the Keys...

The wife and I think this event sounds kick-ass and would love to come down. Just want to make sure that we have some folks to hang and party with when we get there instead of trolling around like an idiot.

What size boats do you normally get for this event? We are on a Sea Ray 220 Sundeck.

Thanks!

You'll fit right in! My Wife and friends are coming down on Weds night. We'll hook up when it gets closer.

Hey Island Time (or anyone else), have you ever stayed or know anything about Drop Anchor Resort (Drop Anchor Resort and Marina - Rates and Reservations)
?

I know its not high style, but I'm looking at the budget... A lot of trips this year.

Never stayed there and don't know much about it. If you're on a budget, I'd recommend Smuggler's Cove- it's cheap, clean and has a great location.

I've stayed at the Drop Anchor, the accomodations were ok but it's hard to get in and out of there in anything bigger than a 20 footer, especially if your going to use their ramp. It's a very, very narrow channel. Also, if you plan on returning at night by boat, it can be very tricky. I hope this helps.

That's a HUGE help. I'm finding that there are a lot of places that take outboards only due to the difficulty of getting in and out at tide. Thanks Stonefree!

We usually stay at the Marriott in Key Largo but that might be a bit far. I know, I know, not exactly a budget place, but we're talking about Amex points baby! For the price its a great place to stay - great rooms, no resort fee, no fee for the boat ramp or overnight dockage for guests. I figure that it would take about $40 per day to get to and from the sand bar from there. The question is do I want to make that cruise???
