Hello,
Fleet Week is a great time with many events going on around the "yachting capital of the world". The Downtowner always has some big to-do. Lets get out and support our Navy.

For those of you fortunate enough to go boating during the week... here is a little fyi...

A warning for folks operating in and around Port Everglades this week: It's Fleet Week and there are 500-foot security zones around naval vessels in the area south of the 17th Street bridge. Traffic within those zones must slow to a no-wake speed, and no vessel can get closer than 100 yards to a naval vessel. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, "Due to the large number of naval vessels entering and departing the port in a short period of time, mariners should expect significant delays."

No mention of the Coast Guard, huh? I understand; I'm a big fan of the Navy too. In fact, here's a photo I snapped of a skilled Naval Coxswain in Northern Florida.

For the record, I love the Coast Guard. Many of the captains of the yachts in our fleet are ex Coast Guard.

There will be an offhore boat race saturday at 11:00am and 1:00pm, off the beach in lauderdale, we usually run it before the Air show, but that aint happening this year, we will still run the race though. The NEW Miss Geico will be there, in testing Scotty ran it to 210 MPH, so it should be a good show

Wish I could have done the offshore .. had to bring it back in around noon on Saturday. Ran up to G'ville for the older daughter's graduation. (Back tonite.)

Races went great, kinda rough

although we did crack the hull on the oldest Miss Geico
