I am not familiar with the the best boating places, but if possible, it would be nice to find a place where people without a boat can join as well so that we have a chance to meet each other... We have a six year old boy, and would like to meet some of the people in the group without having to get a ride...

In Ft Lauderdale there is John LLoyd Park. You can get there by car or boat and is becoming a little more popular with the boaters. This is where I usually go on Sundays because it is close to my house. I live on the water up in the Daina Cut Off Canal. The park sells food, beer and ice. Though the park rangers don't like to see beer bottles or cans on the beach, only on your boat so you have to pour the beer in to a cup if you want to roam the beach.
