Smile Will work for a ride...

:D Hi Everybody (hi Dr Nick),
Finally moving to West Palm from GA, looking forward to palm trees and sunshine.
I learned how to wakeboard this summer and can drive straight while turning up the tunes. I'm a geologist, so I can read a map, a former bartender, and I also clean a mean boat.
Looking forward to meeting some good, fun, active people. The only fun meet up place I know of is at the marina on Singer Island on a Thursday night. They have a crafts fair and good food, I've always gone for the guy who sings "Cecilia" on a ukelalie.
See you at Happy Hour in January!
Brooke

Re: Will work for a ride...

Hey Brooke,

I am actually in the process of trying wake boarding out..... but the last few times i have taken a few friends out they can wake great..... but none of them have boating experience...... i was not thinking and shewed two of them how the boat drives and all that stuff but when it came time to have them pull me yikes..... it almost cost me my leg.......

i was run over once, pulled up too slowly like 25 times, then pulled out of the boots liike 3 times....after the third i gave up with this strong pintvh in my back jejeje.

so maybe we can get a few friends together some cold ones and wake it up.

Ouch!!

I'd be happy to drive for you, doesn't sound like you've had much luck in that department. I learned on air nautiques w/+wo perfect pass (cruise control). My first teacher was OC about his boat and very thorough with the nuances of boat/rider/equipment safety (were you really run over?).
I'll be down next year, and will definately take you up on the ride.
Till then, if the pull is too slow, just stay squat til you get the driver to go faster . You can ride a long time down low. Also try going out with at least 3 people, you can talk a driver through the right way while someone else is pulled. And lastely, just keep trying, it's a hard sport, and you can get really sore after just a few pulls but streatching helps a lot!
Glad to know somebody wake boards!
Brooke

Where would you guys wakeboard? See I want to know how to wakeboard and i have a boat to pull it. If you guys ever go to the Miami International Airport lakes you might see me tubing becuase that stuff is raw.

Re: Will work for a ride...

Actually, as a must in Miami you have to have at least 3 people or more on board to pull anything, 1 the driver, 2 the spotter & 3 the rider..... or the coast guard will get on your axx..........

Safety has always been top priority........ yes, spotter & full approved vest for me.....

Yes the basterd ran me over, but I put the board in front of me since it floats soo dam well once the hull hit the board it pushed me and he stopped when the board thumped the hull and his face of panic was amayzing since i pulled my feet out of the boots and pushed away....jejeje later cumming up a few feet on the side of the boat yelling all kinds of things at him.

lesson leared, I will now be spending more time with my passangers to ensure that everyone knows a little something about running the boat....... if anything happens to me on the water I want to make sure someone know how to get on the radio and describe where we are....

We wake board in the dinner key marina, they have the old stadium and you see a few pwople there and there is not much wake so it is nice and smooth, I have been to the lakes by the airport but i have not seen anyone in there for a long time since they closed the access by the airport employee parking a few years back........

If anyone is up for it we can plan a wake board / raft-up on a saturday..... soon .

AM - wake boarding ( 9-12 )
PM - sand bar ( 12:30 - 5-6 - Stiltsville & lunch / beer)

As soon as we get the flags it will be a bit easier to ID eachother unless we meet up at a given time and local.

Enrique
