Exclamation Dec. 15th Whitey's Lighted Boat Parade

Okay everyone, I’ve got a great idea! (I think its great, but sometimes my ideas go over like a lead balloon)

After receiving an email from a member asking if we were attending the lighted boat parade on Dec. 15th, I thought …. Wow, how great would it be to have a Raft-Up.com boat in the boat parade. Then I though, even better to have a whole line of boats “Rafting Up”, like from big boat to small. Anyways, something like that. I think if we could get a few of you together and share ideas, this could be really fun and very cool!! And best of all, 100% OF THE MONEY GOES TO CHARITY.

Anybody will to participate?? Here are the particulars on the boat parade.

$25 registration fee per boat (registration application on website). Boats will line up at 6:00 PM at Whitey’s. Big boats (any that cannot fit under the bridge) line up in front of Whitey’s and smaller line up behind them into Pen Creek. Parade starts at 6:30, goes to the middle of Doctors Lake, makes a circle and back to Whiteys.

All Captains must attend a Captains Meeting on Wend. Dec. 12th at 7:00 at Whitey’s.

Whitey’s will be throwing an private party sometime during the week after the boat parade for all those who were in the boat parade. Party is to include free buffet, beer, wine and sodas. Date and time of the party will be determined by Whitey’s.

Come on, let’s make this the best North Florida Raft-Up.com event yet!!

Davidson, Captain Morgan….you guys game?? I know I can get some of the girls to help with anybody’s boat that’s willing to participate…Kate, Therese, Debra, Lisa…how bout it?!!?

Here is the link for all info.

This is a Great idea Christine. I believe Edgewater and Jonathan help out with the huge parade in soutern Florida. They may be able to give you some tips to make a splash up here.

For those who want to participate but can't get their boat over to the river...here are a few other parades for participation or viewing:

Downtown Jacksonville: (Captains meeting is tonight!!!!) Parade is November 24th
Jacksonville Light Parade November 24

Palm Valley (from Palm Valley to JTB)
Palm Valley Light and Boat Parade

St. Augustine
LightsRegatta

Hope everyone has a great Holiday Season.

Re: Dec. 15th Whitey's Lighted Boat Parade

We have a group of friends who participate in Whitey's light parade aboard my neighbor's houseboat. After the parade we all come back to Whiteys and party. The parade is normally over by 9:30 or so and they will have a good band.

My neighbors have only said good things about the boaters party that happens the week after the light parade.

If you get some boats to participate they are welcome to use my dock as a gathering point to decorate or whatever. They could even stay overnight if they wanted to. I have plenty of shorepower.

Count me in

I can make an a-frame with my outriggers to wire up a christmas tree.

We can get some rope lighting and spell out RAFT-UP.COM, that would be really cool.

Anyway I'll need some help, that's for sure. Anyone willing to help me out let me.

My neighbor has a small generator I can borrow, so we should be able to power up some lights.

Let's make the Finsup glow in the dark

Hey thanks for the offer Capt Morgan.

I was thinking of decorating the boat at the storage area then drop it in the water and take the ride down from NAS to whitey's.

I am down the creek from Whiteys under the bridge which is 11 ft of clearance so your decorations would have to fit under the bridge. But I have plenty of dock space. Room for maybe 5 or 6 boats and could raft more so the more the merrier.

Re: Dec. 15th Whitey's Lighted Boat Parade

CAPT Morgan thanks for the info on the clearance, I would have to drop my outriggers and antennas to make that clearance. I just barely make it under 9.5 feet, with abuot 3 inches to spare.

I approached the small bridge on the Ortega River and the bridge tender wouldn't open it up for me at 9.5 feet of clearance. He said I could make it under, well I just barely made it.
