This is a great location as there is usually a brisk current of island clear water flowing, and a nice sandy bottom. Depth ranges from 2-15 ft., and access is fairly easy.

Also check out the lake (where FIU is located) accross from the sandbar and Bear Can Island. The water is very clean and deep (12 to 18 ft). There are bigger boats in there, not as crowded if you like nude sunbathing, and sometimes, depending on the wind, Bella Vita Boat Club (Barbies swinger boat group) have there weekend swingers raft ups in there.
