Re: boaters pet peeves

I am with you on this, however I am in the Midwest and here we have rivers where they DO NOT MARK NO WAKE ZONES IN THE CITY! The only way you can figure it out is a $104.50 ticket. I dont want to sound like a speed freek, however I thought in my Coast Guard class the Corp of Engineers was supposed to mark things on nav. waterways..

O'well, let me know if I am wrong.......

Re: boaters pet peeves

Ah, great thread. Where to start?

1. Boaters who show up with no fenders or lines because "They didn't know they'd need them".

2. Boaters who saved money by buying the small "Tylenol Capsule" sized fenders rather than the big boys.

3. Boaters flying through the no wake zones with no clue (Unless it's 2am )

4. Boaters who throw anchor way too close to you- the ones you'll be running to the bow to fend off in 3 minutes.

There are many more, but I'll stop here.

Re: boaters pet peeves

- Boaters who put out just enough anchor line to reach the bottom.

- Boaters who anchor close, as if the boats arent going to swing with the wind.

- Boaters who fly past you way too close when there is a whole fkn ocean to run in.

- Bad weather

Boat Cap.

I would love to have your issues on setting an anchor (with tides).

I could drop mine in the river at any time and it would hook on a hook on a car, old boat or Jimmy Hoffa......

Stupid people who run their jet skis 20' behind barges. On the Ohio River the barges have twin 6' screws and when going up-stream these dumb ass@s dont understand that 1000' behind will take you on an all expence paid trip 28'-30' down to the catfish bait area....

The thing that bothers me most is people that put zero effort to learn there so called new hobby....

On the road if you tell a cop you didnt know that was the law, the cop will tell you ignorance is no excuse.. The same thing on the water is so rediculously overlooked!

Should make the CG Boater Safety Course mandatory with a new boat purchase (all boat owers for that matter).

Re: boaters pet peeves

After an overall great day on the water yesterday, I can add to this list:
Jerkoffs in big cabin cruisers (Sea Ray, etc) that only see the "25MPH" part of the sign and not the "15inch MAXIMUM WAKE".
Which leads to: People that own & operate boats but aren't "boaters" that respect the water and the people around them.
