Any "Flats" Fishermen that can recommend

I am currently shopping for a trolling motor for my 26 foot deckboat for Bass fishing as well as saltwater flats fishing.

Can anyone suggest a minimum thrust I should be looking for ? I am thinking minimum 75 lb thrust but 100 lb thrust are available for a considerable premium. Also anything over 75 lb thrust is 36 volt as opposed to 24 volt, requiring another battery.

The boat weighs about 6500 lbs loaded.

I can't seem to find any tables on minimum thrust vs. weight on Minn Kota or the Motorguide website.

Thanks for any suggestions.

go with the motorguide 24 volt i think it had 80 lbs thrust. i also added 2 remotes and a compas so where ever i was on the boat i could change corse with a push of a button on a hand held witch i wire tied to the rod. it also would keep a compas corse so i could cast any where with out having to correct the corse and speed i loved it. yes it had reverce all on the hand held. the only time i had to toutch the motor is when i lifted it and put into the water. the rest was no hands o ya
if you whant the foot controle it came with it.

iv got the same trolling motor on my flats boat and my dad has the same one on his hurricane deck boat.. it will do the job fine... if you want to get fancy it even comes with lift assist now, i wish mine had it... so 24 volt motorguide its the way to go...
