Boatus

Who is a member of BOATUS and is their towing service worth paying more for extra coverage ?

Re: Boatus

I have been a member since 1987 and have thankfully never had to use the towing service however, I
am insured with them and when i lost my Seacraft during Hurricane Wilma they were there within a day to refloat it and remove it to a local marina Shortly there after an adjuster totaled the boat and they paid the full amount within a week I highly recommend them

Re: Boatus

I have been very satisfied with them. Membership provides discounts at marinas for gas and at WestMarine.

I have been a member for 5 years. I had to be towed twice in 5 years. The first time it was an emergency at the entrance of Port Everglades and they were there in less than 5 minutes.

Last week I was on the ocean and they asked me if it was an emergency. When I said no, they asked me to anchor and wait for an hour because they did not have a towing boat immediately. They did show up in 1 hour. It was very early (7AM)

Their unlimited coverage covers for over 137 miles out from South Florida. That includes many places in the Bahamas but be careful because you can pay up to $700 on immigration fees if you break down in the Bahamas. Seatow will bill you for entrance in the Bahamas and back to US and total costs are high.

And of course always be careful when you call if you are grounded. This is considered salvage. Salvage is not included in your contract. If they pull you up from being grouded you can receive a bill for $20,000 a week later. This is the same for Seatow.

Re: Boatus

I am very satisfied with Boat US and have used them on 2 occasions. The last being a few weeks ago when I had a major problem with my engine a mile of shore at Miami Beach. They came right out at least 10 mins before Sea Tow and towed me back to Port Everglades inlet right back to my marina (Harbour Towne) on the Dania Cut Off Canal and put me right at the dock. In all it was a 3 hour trip back so I gladly tipped the Boat US Capt $50.

I would Highly recommend them , I've been a member since 99 and used them from towing, trailer mishaps and dead batteries--hopefully with a new boat I will not need them as much!!
