Fiberglass rejuvenator

Has anyone tried Presto fiberglass rejuvenator or Poli Glow products? The ads make it look "easy" to use and it shows that it really brings back the color to the fiberglass. She's faded and it looks a lot easier than buffing.

Re: Fiberglass rejuvenator

I tried the Poly Glo on my 24 footer. Relatively simple but if I had it to do over again I'd use the 3M fiberglas restorer and suck it up. Rubbing out dock rash after Poly Glo is more trouble imho. I'll do it the right way on the 28 and use 3m and elbow grease.

Re: Fiberglass rejuvenator

If you want to do it easily adn quickly, try Star brite Cleaner Wax with PTEF. Apply it, let it dry to a haze, buff off - boom - a shiny fiberglass surface.

If you can polish a boat, you can restore the f/g. It isn't messy, runny or a 2-step process.

if it is a colored hull (f/g or painted) the Color Restorer does the trick.

Re: Fiberglass rejuvenator

I have used Presto rejuvenator They say it suppose to last 5 years. You rub it on and it looks great for the first couple of weeks then the color fads out. A bit expensive for a great looking boat for a couple of weeks. I have a 1976 Glastron

Re: Fiberglass rejuvenator

Toma,

Send me a PM with your address so that I can send you the right stuff to use.

Poli Glow is an acrylic coating. That is a last-ditch way to 'save' a dull fiberglass finish. We make one too - Glass Cote - but that is not what you need for this scenario. They are great for what they are made for, and are absolutely the wrong thing to use for anything else.

Star brite Cleaner Wax with PTEF is not as agressive as rubbing compound, so it won't damage the finish, yet it was specifically formulated to restore oxidized, hazy f/g surfaces.

btw, it is not all that unusual for a hull to look crummy a few weeks after being buffed out - that just suggests that you didn't get all of the oxidation out. To be gross, sometimes the surface is like a pimple. You think you've popped it and drained it, only to have it reappear a few days later. A second application of the right stuff will do the trick.

Bill
