We were thinking about taking the boat to Brookville sometime this summer. We're just tied up trying to buy a new house right now and watching our money.
Orignally I had planned on maybe keeping it down on the river for the summer, but it's just not in the budget this year. I have it stored close by and am looking at a house with plenty of room to keep her. So, we're thinking about a long weekend on a lake where just the little lady and I can stay on the boat for a couple nights and get away from it all.
Fuel at 4 bucks a gallon doesn't help, but anchoring in a peaceful place is free!
We know what ya mean FinFIn, we love boating on the river but we always burn the most fuel there. Brookville is nice, not all that big, but we have met several friends there that we raft up with so that keeps it pretty inexpensive.. And there is a great mix of people there.
BEEN GOING TO EASTFORK STATE PARK. LAKE IS ABOUT 2200 ACRES. BEEN VERY EASY TO GET IN AND OUT OF. LOTS OF NICE COVES TO TIE UP IN. LAKE IS FAIRLY CLEAN. NOT ALOT OF JUNK FLOATING AROUND. NOT BEEN VERY CROWDED ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY. LAKE PATROL IS VERY NICE IF YOU SEE THEM AT ALL. WAS HAVING A COOL BEVERAGE WHEN THEY CAME BY. JUST WAVED AND KEPT GOING. BEEN ON THE LAKE OVERNITE WITH NO HASSEL. HAS A BEACH AT THE BACKEND OF PARK WHERE BOATS CAN ANCHOR AND SWIM IF YOU LIKE. WATER WAS ABOUT 10 - 12 FT AT THE BOUYS. MOST OF THE WATER IS ABOUT 35' DEEP WITH THE CHANNEL GETTING TO ABOUT 70'. MIGHT BE A NICE PLACE TO TRY AND GET TOGETHER UNTIL THE RIVER SETTLES DOWN. HOPEFULLY THE RIVER WILL SETTLE DOWN SOON. MAYBE WE COULD PLAN A PUB CRAWL WHEN IT DOES.
Yes Wet we have been to Alum Creek, it is a very nice place, we would go there more often if it was closer. Deleware lake is very nice as well, it is smaller than Alum, but it isnt crowded at all.
