I will be there some time Wed. afternoon/eve. I'm not sure if I will be leaving out Mon. or Tues. yet. I guess it will depend on the inventory

We plan on getting there Wed. too - we'll have to lighten the current boat load in order to have the proper supplies on board for that "weekend"!!:omg_smi le:

Re: Memorial Day Weekend At The Glen!!

We often cruise the Rainbow River in Dunnellon, FL. which appears to be close to Silver Glen.

SG looks like a lot of fun, but do they have rules against disposable containers? On the Rainbow, they do not allow any disposable containers, food wrapers, napkins, paper plates, etc. Strictly enforced on the weekends!!

What are the rules for Silver Glen?

Also, where is the nearest boat ramp and will it accomodate a 25' contender?

Disposable containers are no problem. The Silver Glen run is basically under the jurisdiction of three different counties and patrolled by all of them plus Fish and Wildlife. The biggest issue is alcohol is not allowed inside the Glen. Now I didn't say that it wasn't Consumed in there, just not allowed, LOL. Keep it clean and inconspicuous and you will have no problem.
OUtside the glen at the entrance off of Lake George is pretty much anything goes but sometimes gets a little too wild for my taste.
YES Everyone! Badonkadonk said that publicly believe it or not!
The closest ramp would probably be the Astor ramp and yes it and the Glen can easily handle a 25' Contender. You just have to watch the depth as you enter the Glen b/c it can get shallow in spots but it was plenty deep enough 2 weeks ago.
Hope that helps.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend At The Glen!!

Sounds like a great party. Thanks for the advice. I don't think we'll make it over memorial day - i've heard that if you don't get there by Thur or Fri there is no space.

We'll be up that way in July for scalloping in Crystal River, so we'll have to make a day for Silver Glen.
