pvc board?

I'm looking for some pvc or some other kind of composite board to build some custom seating. Does anyone know where I can find this stuff locally?

Hmmm, How about my back yard? Is that local enough? I have a 4.5' x 8' x 3/4" sheet of white HDPE marina grip board. I bought it some time back for $425 and drove to Tampa area to pick it up. If you want it I'll let you have it for $375.

Thank you for the response, that is pretty local, but I didn't realize that stuff was so expensive. I might try to use an alternative then, I'm not sayin I'm cheap but It's not like I'm building the pyramids or anything.

Re: pvc board?

Hey Irish, Some thin plywood coated in fiberglass resin will probably do the trick. Give me a shout if you need some direction with it. I have done several projects with that method on boats and it works fine.

Re: pvc board?

thanx for the advice and that's exactly what I did, I took a piece of 3/4" plywood and completely coated it with epoxy resin. I figured that would last a little while.

Now I have quite a few other projects for my little runabout. Seems that searay used a lot of wood in these little boats. My back to back lounge seats are falling apart, and I could just replace them with new ones but I'm thinking of trying somethin different. maybe a cushioned storage compartment with a backrest that can be swiveled to face the bow or the stern kinda like what they have on fishing boats, or more recently I thought about making a seat like on the seadoo utopia that swivels with a storage compartment underneath. If anyone has any thougthts, design ideas or lessons learned about custom seating let me know.

Re: pvc board?

Get with me at the next raft-up or make some time to bring the boat by and I will shoot some ideas at ya. I do all kinds of boat restoration and fiberglass work in my spare time.I also have an interior guy that can hook you up with seat cover repairs....
